Bernie Sanders?

If you know me, you know that I do not follow politics. Like, hardly at all. So I had no idea that Bernie Sanders had become so popular all of a sudden until 2 people sent me the same picture (on the same day!) of this crocheted Bernie doll and said either I should make some, or that it reminded them of the things I make.

And I had no plans to make a crocheted Bernie until my mom texted me one day saying a friend of ours wanted one… she sent me a link for the pattern and I have since made 2, with a third in progress. I did take a break or two during the making of the third one, there’s this knitted headband pattern I found… we’ll come back to that. 🙂

Back to Bernie… here are just a few photos of him in progress…

The mittens are obviously a big part of the design… since real-life-Bernie wore some stylish warm mittens on Inauguration Day this year.

A little green jacket, the glasses, and of course a blue mask complete the ensemble. And there you have it! Bernie Sanders in crochet form!

I am happy to give credit to the pattern designer – Tobey Perales King. She did a great job with the pattern and has very helpful tutorials for the mittens and also those glasses, if you need pointers. 🙂 She is on instagram and also has her own website, I’ll include links!

Thanks for taking the time to visit today, hope you had a great week full of yarn and smiles. xoxo
